MISSION STATEMENT
Northern Michigan Interfaith Common Ground works to grow our individual capacities as people of faith/belief and conscience to better serve systemically non-dominant groups within our community in an effort to shift our local culture to one of a community of care.
VISION STATEMENT
We make every effort to be an example of servant leadership and show how differing world views and spiritual approaches can work together in service of building a stronger community with less systemic disparity. We strive to create a cohesive community by bridging the divide between majority and minority groups.
Values
- Growth: we work on our own healing, check our biases and continue to strive for a better version of self.
- Empathy & Compassion: we have a responsibility to cultivate our awareness of others’ struggle to move ourselves and our community towards loving presence in action.
- Inclusivity & Welcoming: we are collaborating and partnering across differences to create a loving and supportive space that celebrates the diversity of humans and all living beings.
- Solidarity: we come alongside systemically non-dominant groups to provide support for their plight without taking over their efforts.
- Advocacy: we support the efforts of local systemically non-dominant groups as well as policies, projects and initiatives that will minimize the systemic disparity.
We welcome anyone of any religion, faith background, experience or affiliation who wants to join us.
